The Obstetrics Department of Blair Medical Associates proudly opened in the Spring of 2008 offering women of child-bearing age in our community a new practice with experienced obstetricians. We provide obstetrical care for both low and high risk pregnancies. We have a team of doctors and nurses who are knowledgeable in the physical, emotional and environmental changes that occur in a woman’s life when she is pregnant. We assist her in making important health care and life style changes that increase her chance of having a successful pregnancy and both Mom and baby being healthy at the end of nine months. We offer prenatal classes through Altoona Regional Health System to ensure the education of the patient and her coach to maximize the patients’ ability to labor, deliver, and care for her newborn with the most recent knowledge and skills. In addition, we work in conjunction with several perinatologists (hi-risk OB doctors) in the tertiary care centers located in Johnstown, Pittsburgh and Danville. These associations allow many women to obtain some or all of their care locally instead of having to travel to another area.
We begin a woman's care with a pre-conceptual visit and risk assessment. OB visits are available at three locations, Station Medical Center, Howard Avenue Suite, and Cove Medical Center - Roaring Spring. We offer standard obstetrical care including MSAFP evaluations, ultrasounds (both standard and 3-D) and medical complications care, such as a gestational diabetes or essential hypertension in pregnancy, by our group members in the endocrine and internal medicine departments. Our pediatric division of doctors are also readily available for pregnancy, labor and delivery consultations raising the level of care that is easily accessible to our patients. This advantage is especially important when unexpected complications occur during the course of labor.
We deliver OB patients exclusively at Altoona Regional Health Systems, Altoona Campus. The state of art Labor/Delivery floor includes 20 plus LDRPs and same floor C-Section rooms that increase the ability to handle such complications as fetal heart sound abnormalities or severe bleeding crisis in a safe and expeditious manner. The hospital provides us with 24 hour/day in-house anesthesia coverage as well. We also include post partum care, lactation consultation, and contraceptive counseling after the delivery of the newborn as part of our program. The pediatric division is also available for newborn and pediatric patient care.
Give us a call if you are planning to get pregnant or are already pregnant and desire care.
We would be glad to meet you!
To ascertain and treat problems in gynecology, we will utilize a variety of laboratory testing and diagnostic procedures which may include:

Any questions should usually first be addressed to our very knowledgeable nurses. This can save a great deal of time for everyone.
